"Donald Pendleton was wrongly convicted of the 1971 murder of a newspaper seller based on his false confession. Pendleton had been eliminated as a suspect when the murder was investigated, but 14 years later in 1985 a suspect in the murder allegedly implicated Pendleton to deflect attention away from him. Pendleton's conviction was quashed by the House of Lords on December 13, 2001."
