"Randall Philen was wrongly convicted in 2011 of the December 11, 2009 of his brother Ronald Philen in Brownwood, Texas. He was sentenced to life in prison. He was released in January 2012 based on new evidence by a confidential informant that Ronald was murdered by four teenagers during a burglary of his home. In April 2012 the four men aged 20 to 21 were indicted on capital murder charges. On April 23, 2012 the indictment was dismissed against Randall Philen based on the new evidence of his actual innocence."
