Summary of Case:

"Gilbert Lee Poole Jr. was wrongly convicted of murder in the stabbing death of Robert Mejia in 1989 in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. Gilbert Poole's prosecution was based on expert forensic bite mark evidence that his teech matched the bite mark found on Mejia's body. After his conviction by a jury Gilbert Poole was sentenced to life in prison. After Poole's conviction bite mark evidence was recognized as unreliable and widely classified as "junk science." Post-conviction DNA testing of crime scene blood evidence excluded Poole as the assailant. Poole's conviction was vacated and he was released after almost 32 years in custody."
