Summary of Case:

"Franklin C. Pratt was wrongly convicted on October 29, 1883 of larceny in Plymouth County, Massachusetts in 1883. After his conviction in the Plymouth County Superior Court, Pratt was sentenced to one year in prison. After his conviction evidence was discovered that at the time of the crime Pratt was mentally infirm, and therefore he was not criminally responsible for his action because of a lack of criminal intent. The Plymouth County District Attorney recommended Pratt's pardon. On May 15, 1884 Franklin Pratt was granted a full pardon by Massachusetts Governor George D. Robinson based on the new evidence he had lacked criminal intent."
