Summary of Case:

"Christopher E. Prince was wrongly convicted in 1995 of breaking and entering a neighbor's house and raping a 12-year-old girl in Culpeper, Virginia. The 12-year-old ``victim' 'later recanted her testimony. In 1996 Virginia Governor George F. Allen pardoned the 20-year-old Christopher Prince, wroting, "It is clear that Mr. Prince was convicted on the basis of false information provided through perjured testimony.'' Christopher Prince was released after 15 months of wrongful imprisonment. In February 1997 the Virginia Legislature declined to award Prince compensation. In 1999 Prince settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed sum."
