Summary of Case:	"Patrick Prince was wrongly convicted in 1994 of first-degree murder and robber in the the August 28, 1991 shooting death of Edward Porter on a sidewalk in Chicago, Illinois. Prince's prosecution was based on his confession to police after his arrest, that he recanted as coerced. Prince was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Patrick Prince's filed a post-conviction petition for a new trial that was based on four eyewitnesses who said Prince wasn't the shooter, and new evidence that the police officers involved in Prince's confession had coerced confessions from other suspects. His petition was granted on April 26, 2017 by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thaddeus L. Wilson. On May 16, 2017 the motion by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office to dismiss the charges was granted, and Prince was released from prison."
