"Wei Qing'an was wrongly convicted in 1984 in China of raping Kun Liu, a woman who had disappeared. After his conviction by the Intermediate People's Court, The 23-year-old Qing'an was sentenced to death. He was executed on May 3, 1984. A month later, in June 1984, Tian Yuxiu was arrested for a different crime and confessed to raping Kun Liu. Based on the confession by the actual perpetrator, Wei Qing'an was officially declared innocent and posthumously acquitted in 1987."
