Summary of Case:

"Ruddy Quezada was wrongly convicted in 1993 of the drive-by shooting murder of an innocent bystander in Brooklyn, New York in 1991. Quezada's conviction was based on the eyewitness testimony of a witness who identified him as the shooter. Quezada was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Quezada filed a motion for a new trial based on new evidence the prosecution failed to disclose prior to his trial that the eyewitness was coerced to testify after he was arrested on a material witness warrant, by being held in police custody until he agreed to testify that Quezada was the shooter. On August 31, 2015 Quezada was released after a judge in Brookly, New York granted the Kings County DA's motion to dismiss the charge against him based on the prosecution's Brady violation of failing to disclose exculpatory evidence at the time of his trial. In April 2017 Quezada settled his wrongful conviction compensation claim with the State of New York for $4,500,000."
