John Quinn was wrongly convicted in 1957 after a three-day trial of theft and handling stolen scrap metal. He was sentenced to six years in prison and served five years at Dartmoor Prison. Quinn wrote thousands of letters over 47 years in an effort to prove his innocence. The Court of Appeals quashed John Quinn's conviction in November 2004 based on the accumulation of evidence supporting his innocence. Quinn was 76 years old.
