Summary of Case:	"Mohd Yusof Rahmat was wrongly convicted in 2004 of raping a 5-year-old girl solely on the basis of the testimony of the alleged victim that was uncorroborated by any other evidence, as required by Malaysian law. Examination of the girl by three doctors didn't result in any evidence she had been raped. The alleged victim was also unable to provide a description of her alleged assailant to the police, and only identified Mohd Yusof Rahmat after being shown his photo by the police. Rahmat was sentenced to 15 years in prison and five strokes of the rotan. He appealed, and on January 23, 2009 Malaysia's Court of Appeal unanimously overturned his conviction on the basis of insufficient evidence and ordered his acquittal and release."
