Summary of Case:	"Anesh Ram was wrongly convicted on October 13, 2010 of murder in the death of a 16-year-old girl in June 2008 in Suva, Fiji. The decomposed body of the girl was found about two weeks after she went missing. Ram was sentenced to life imprisonment. On November 10, 2010 Ram filed a notice of appeal, but he was refused leave to appeal by a single Court of Appeal Justice. In June 2011 Ram filed notice that he was requesting the full Court of Appeal to consider his leave to appeal. His request was granted, and the full Court granted him leave to appeal. On appeal he was represented by the Fiji Legal Aid Commission. On October 2, 2015 the Fiji Court of Appeal quashed Anesh Ram's conviction and ordered his acquittal on the basis there was no evidence to link Ram to the victim's death, and therefore the prosecution failed to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
