Summary of Case:	"Jesus Ramirez and Alberto Sifuentes were codefendants wrongly convicted in 1998 of murder after separate trials in Lamb County, Texas. State habeas corpus petition were granted to both men in August 2007 based on ineffective assistance of their trial counsel for failing to adequately investigate their case. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the ruling on January 16, 2008. A grand jury declined to reindict either man, and on April 29, 2008 they were released from prison. The men filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in 2009 against the City of Littlefield, the County of Lamb, and several government employees involved in their prosecution. Their case went to trial in 2011, and the jury failed to find any of the defendants in the case were financially liable for any of the civil rights violations alleged against them. So neither Ramirez or Sifuentes received any compensation for their 12 years in custody."
