"Julie Rea-Harper was wrongly convicted in 2002 of murdering her 10-year-old son Joel in 1997 by stabbing him to death in her Lawrenceville, Illinois home. Her defense was that a masked intruder had stabbed her son. A man on Texas' death row provided details about the crime not known to the public when he confessed to murdering the 10-year-old. The Illinois Court of Appeals vacated her conviction in 2004, and she was released on bond pending a retrial. A jury acquitted Julie Rea-Harper on July 26, 2006, after a retrial."
