Summary of Case:

"Charles Reedy was wrongly convicted in 2002 of the December 3, 2001 murder of a homeless man in Austin, Texas. Charles Reedy's alibi defense was that he was in Alabaster, Alabama when the murder could have occurred (since the exact day of death couldn't be determined from the victim's autopsy). There was no physical, forensic or eyewitness evidence linking Reedy to the crime, but he made some statements that were interpreted as suggesting he might have been involved. Reedy was sentenced to 30 years in prison after his conviction by a jury. Reedy was acquitted on direct appeal by the Texas Court of Criminal appeal in their decision of December 6, 2006, based on the prosecution's failure to prove each element of the crime. With his retrial barred, Reedy was released. From his arrest in January 2002 Reedy was wrongly jailed for 4 years and 11 months. "
