"Peter van Reen, the managing editor of Het Volk, a Laborite newpaper in The Netherlands, was convicted of insulting Adolf Hitler by the paper's publication of a cartoon in February 1936. Reen was fined 150 guilders. On February 4, 1937 The Netherland's Appeal Court quashed the editor's conviction on the basis that although the cartoon demonstrated a contradiciton between Hitler's words and actions, that was not illegal, and the cartoon's caption was not insulting to Hitler."
