Summary of Case:	"Simon Reynolds was wrongly convicted in September 2015 of assaulting a 27-year-old man outside a nightclube in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales on November 22, 2014. Reynolds, a police officer, was prosecuted based on his rough treatment in pushing the drunken man down as he was crouching, which was shown in CCTV footage of the incident. After his conviction following a bench trial, Reynolds was sentenced to eight weeks in jail suspended for one year of good behavior, and ordered to pay & £250 in restitution to the victim. Reynolds appealed. On April 1, 2016 the Swansea Crown Court quashed Reynolds' conviction on the basis he used reasonable force, because the man had threatened to head-butt his female colleague. In issuing the court's ruling, Judge Huw Davies QC stated: "It is a grave thing to threaten to head-butt someone. It is an appalling thing to threaten a head-butt a woman, whether-or-not she is a police officer. Mr Reynolds may be discharged from the dock without a stain on his character.""
