Summary of Case:

"Ruby Ride was an apprentice jockey at Eagle Farm horse racing course in Ascot, Queensland, Australia on March 14, 2014 when she was accused of swearing at Steward Martin Knibbs. Ride denied she had used abusive language toward the steward. Ride was convicted and fined AUS$500. Ride appealed to the Queensland Racing Disciplinary Board. On April 11, 2014 Judge Bill Carter quashed her conviction on the basis that because there was a conflict between the two versions of what occurred and there was no independent witness to the event, there wasn't enough evidence to support her conviction."
