Summary of Case:	"Talal Ahmad Roda was wrongly convicted on November 29, 2013 in the Federal High Court, Abuja Division of conspiracy to import and store prohibited firearms in Kano, Nigeria between February 1988 and March 2008. Roda's two codefendants were acquitted and Justice Adeniyi Ademola ordered that all money and personal property seized from them be returned. Roda, a Lebanese national, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Although Roda was found guilty of conspiracy, the judge noted that some aspects of the investigation were shady and the prosecution introduced no evidence any of the defendants were involved in terrorism. On January 30, 2015 Nigeria's Supreme Court vacated Roda's conviction and ordered dismissal of his charges and release from custody because the trial court had no jurisdiction to try him, because he could only be tried in Kano were his alleged offenses were allegedly committed. Since the Supreme Court ruled the trial court lacked jurisdiction, it didn't need to address the incongruity of Roda being convicted of conspiracy when his alleged co-conspirators were acquitted."
