"Angel Rodriguez was wrongly imprisoned for a total of 3 years and 5 months. On March 31, 2000 the Illinois Court of Appeals reversed Rodriguez conviction based on the prosecution's failure to introduce sufficient evidence at trial to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Rodriguez filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Chicago and severla Chicago Police Department officers. After a civil trial the jury ruled against awarding Rodriguez any damages. Rodriguez filed a compensation claim with the Illinois Court of Claims and he was awarded $85,000."
