Summary of Case:	"Offord Rollins IV was wrongly convicted of the 1991 murder of his former girlfriend, 17-year-old Maria Madera Rodriguez on August 2, 1991 in Kern County, California. Rollins conviction was overturned in May 1995 by California's Court of Appeals. Rollins retrial began in May 1996. Rollins' lawyer presented the testimony of two experts who established Maria's time of death was during a period of time when Rollins had credible alibi evidence. The jury deadlocked 6 to 6, so a mistrial was declared on August 6, 1996. The Kern County DA's Office declined to retry Rollins a third time, and the charges were dismissed on September 23, 1996 and he was released."
