Summary of Case:

"Miguel Roman was wrongly convicted in 1988 of murdering a 17-year-old in Hartford, Connecticut. Although blood tests at the time excluded Miguel Roman, the jury relied on eyewitness testimony and circumstantial evidence to convict Roman. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Exclusionary DNA testing unavailable at the time of Roman's trial led to the overturning of his conviction on December 19, 2008. The same tests identified another man, Pedro Miranda, as the assailant, and he was charged on Dec. 5, 2008 with capital felony murder. On April 2, 2009 the indictment was dismissed. The State of Connecticut awarded Roman $6,000,000 in compensation in February 2016."
