Summary of Case:	"Craig Ross was wrongly convicted on July 25, 2008 of nine counts of fraud in raising (NZL)$370,000 for Rowing New Zealand. The money was used to buy equipment, boats, oars and travel for New Zealand's national rowing team. The court heard that Ross did not benefit personally from the offending. The money was used for travel, clothing, boats and oars for New Zealand's national rowing team. The rowing team won three medals at the Beijing Olympic games in August 2008. Craig Ross was sentenced to a fine of $10,000 and $15,000 for the cost of prosecution. On appeal the High Court in Rotorua, New Zealand set aside Ross' conviction in September 2008 on the basis that he did not benefit personally from any of the money, since 100% of it went towards to rowing team."
