Ross was sentenced to 25 years to life imprisonment. Ross was exonerated in 2013. On June 8, 2015 the California Legislature passed authorization for Ross to be paid $229,000 under California's wrongful conviction compensation statute, and on June 17 Governor Jerry Brown signed the legislation."
