"Brandi Jessica Russell was wrongly convicted by a jury in August 2011 of Brandi Jessica Russell for possession of marijuana concentrate, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of methamphetamine in March 2010. Russell was sentenced to 4 years probation, 192 hours community service, and 90 days in jail suspended. While Russell's appeal was pending Amendment 64 was passed by Colorado voters that legalized possession of an ounce or less of marijuana. On March 12, 2015 the Colorado Court of Appeals vacated Russell's convictions for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana and possessing marijuana concentrate, by ruling that Amendment 64 could be applied retroactively. The Court affirmed her methamphetamine conviction."
