Summary of Case:	"Lydia Ann Salce was wrongly convicted on July 6, 2012 of attempted second-degree murder and assault for injuries her husband suffered at their home in New York on August 11, 2011. Salce presented a defense that she acted in self-defense to protect herself from her 41-year-old husband. After the jury convicted her she was sentenced in October 2013 to 16 years in prison. In November 2014 the Appellate Division of New York State Supreme Court reversed Salce's convictions and ordered a new trial on the basis the trial judge prejudicially erred by not allowing the defense expert to testify, and there was an error with the jury instructions concerning Salce's claim of justification (self-defense). On May 12, 2015 a jury acquitted Salce after she was retried, and the jury heard the testimony of her expert and the proper justification instruction was given to the jury."
