After his trial his public defenderr discovered that one of the jurors had violated the judges order not to do any research about the case or rely on any extrinsic evidence during deliberations. Santos' conviction was vacated by the trial judge based on the juror misconduct, and he was acquitted after a retrial in January 2012."
