Summary of Case: |
"William Schaefer was wrongly convicted after a bench trial for the receipt and possession of images on a CD-rom disk involving the sexual exploitation of minors (18 U.S.C. §§ 2252(a)(2) and (a)(4)(B)). Schaefer lived in Kansas City, Kansas. Schaefer appealed his conviction on the basis that the government hadn't proven the images crossed state lines, as required by the federal statute. On September 5, 2007, Schaffer's conviction was overturned by the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals that ordered he be acquitted because fo insufficient evidence he committed the crime. " |
