Summary of Case: |
"Samuel M. Schnaiderman was wrongly convicted of failing to file out a Customs reporting form under 31 U.S.C.A. § 1101. On March 6, 1978 the federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated Schnaiderman's conviction and ordered that a judgement of acquittal be entered on the basis he hadn't committed a crime because he had no knowledge of a legal requirement to file the report and the government hadn't informed him of any such legal requirement, and hence he could have willfully failed to do so." |
