"Daniel Andrew Seeger, Arno Sascha Jakobson, and Forest Britt Peter were three men who in separate cases were convicted after bench trials in U.S. District Court for refusing induction into the military on conscientious objector grounds, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit reversed the convictions of Seeger and Jakobson, and the 9th Circuit Ct. of Appeals affirmed the conviction of Peter. The government sought review by the U.S. Supreme Court of the ruling in Seeger and Jakobson's cases, and Peter sought review of his conviction. The three cases were joined together for purposes of their review by the U.S. Supreme Court.
