"Sandra Segran Muruthamuthu was wrongly convicted in August 2008 of conspiring to import marijuana for paying $150 for 25g of cannabis in October 2007. Sandra Segran Muruthamuthu was sentenced to five years in prison. On appeal Singapore's High Court ruled that buying cannabis that was known to have been illegally imported does not consitute conspiracy to import for the buyer. The High Court thus quashed Muruthamuthu's conviction on January 30, 2009." |
