Summary of Case:	"Asghar Shah was wrongly convicted of the murder and rape of a 8-year-old girl on October 25, 2010 in the Sajawal district of Pakistan's Sindh province. He girl did not identify Shah. Shah's prosecution was based on an alleged witness who died prior to his trial, and Shah's purported admissions during his police interrogation. The prosecution's argument he sexually abused the girl before raping and murdering her along with another man, Mohammad Shah. Asghar's defense was his confession was coerced and he didn't commit the crimes. After his conviction by a Thatta district and sessions judge, Asghar was sentenced to life in prison. On January 18, 2018 the Sindh High Court set aside Asghar's convictions on the basis the prosecution failed to introduce sufficient evidence to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, because there was no medical or forensic evidence, no eyewitness testimony, and his admissions weren't reliable to implicate him in his convicted crimes. It isn't know if Mohammad Shah was prosecuted, and if so, convicted."
