Hussain Shah was wrongly convicted of being knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of heroin. In 2000 Shah submitted an application to the Criminal Case Review Commission (CCRC) for review of his conviction as a miscarriage of justice. Shah's case was referred by the CCRC on 9/23/2004 to the England and Wales Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). On 7/4/2005 the appeals court quashed Hussain Shah's convictions.
