Summary of Case: |
"Robert John Sharpley was wrongly convicted of the 2009 death of a man found on a footpath in Toowoomba. He testified he encountered the victim and they had blows and after defending himself in self-defense he left and Sharpley was alive. After his conviction in 2010 by a jury he was sentenced to eight years in prison. On June 15, 2011 the Queensland Court of Appeals quashed his conviction and ordered his acquittal on the basis there was insufficient evidence to prove how the victim died or if Sharpley had anything to do with it." |
