"Joshua R. Shepard was wrongly convicted of three counts of negligent homicide, steming from a traffic accident on June 11, 2006 in Thornton, New Hampshire. After his conviction by a jury Shepard was sentenced to three to twelve years in prison, and he began serving his sentence on March 27, 2008. On May 29, 2009 the New Hampshire Supreme Court overturned Joshua Shepard's three negligent Homicide convictions on the basis the prosecution failed to introduce sufficient evidence to prove his guilt of every essential element beyond a reasonable doubt."
