Summary of Case:	"Katô Shin'ichi aka Katoh Shinichi was wrongly convicted on November 7, 1916 of a robbery and murder committed on July 11, 1915 in Yamaguchi. Shin'ichi was sentenced to life in prison. After his sixth request for a retrial was granted, his retrial began on September 18, 1976. On July 7, 1977 Shin'ichi was acquitted. Shin'icki filed a lawsuit for compensation that was denied in the Hiroshima District Court in July 1980. He appealed and it was denied in the Hiroshima High Court in October 1986. He appealed, and in January 1987 the Japanese Supreme Court declined to review his case."
