Summary of Case:	"Lam Shing-chi was wrongly convicted in 2003 of arson for two rubbish fires on July 6, 2003 in Hong Kong. Shing-chi was 16 at the time, and hs conviction was based on his confession that was maide without his parents or a lawyer present. Shing-chi was sentenced to 12 months probation. Another man was convicted of being an accomplice with Shing-chi. Shing-chi didn't didn't appeal his conviction until 2014. On July 23, 2014 Hong Kong's High Court quashed Shing-chi's conviction on the basis the prosecution relied on insufficient evidence to prove his guilt. The appeals court relied on evidence that a police investigator said he believed Lam was merely present at the scene, but did not take part in the crime, a security guard who witnessed the incident said he had seen only one man setting a fire that night, and elements of the crime were missing from his alleged confession."
