Summary of Case:	"Chinpo Shipping Company Ltd. was wrongly convicted in 2015 of violating of Regulation 12(b) of Singapore’s United Nations Regulations in 2010. The prosecution was based on the allegation that the company provided financial services which contributed to North Korea’s nuclear-related programs and activities. After its conviction the company was fined SGD$80,000 (US$106,690 in 2015). On May 12, 2017 Singapore's High Court set-aside the conviction of Chinpo Shipping Company Ltd. was not correct because the trial court applied an overly broad interpretation of the law that if allowed to stand, could allow the law to be used to make any trade with North Korea illegal. The High Court also ordered the refund of the SGD$80,000 fine paid by the company. (In 2015 the currency exchange rate was SGD$1.333658 to US$1)"
