"Robert Silverstein was wrongly convicted in 2011 of manufacturing, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver drugs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was sentenced to three years' probation. On June 19, 2015 a Philadelphia common pleas judge vacated the convictions of 58 defendants, that included Silverstein, whose drug charge related convictions were based on investigations by one or more of six Philadelphia police officers accused in July 2014 of corruption that included filing false police reports and testifying perjuriously to obtain convictions. As of June 19, 2015, 234 drug related convictions had been vacated that depended on evidence provided by one or more of the six officers, and it is expected that hundreds more could be vacated.." |
