"Loudly proclaimed his innocence of killing a man in a bar from the time of his arrest. Although eligible for parole beginning in 1986, he refused because he would have had to falsely admit guilt. He claimed that the man fell and hit his head on the floor, and his counsel assembled the reports of four eminent pathologists that supported the victim died from the impact to his head of a fall, and not from being kicked, as the prosecution had contended."
