Summary of Case:	"George Souliotes was wrongly convicted in 1996 of first-degree murder in the death of three people from smoke inhalation in a fire at Souliotes rental home Modesto, California. Souliotes was sentenced to death. Based on new expert evidence the fire was not started, Souliotes conviction was overturned by a federal judge in 2013 and he was released on July 3, 2013 after prosecutors conceeded they couldn't prove the fire was deliberately set in a retrial, and Souliotes accepted an agreement to pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter for failing to have working smoke alarms in the house. He was released after 17 years of incarceration."
