Summary of Case:

"George Steen was wrongly convicted in January 2013 of nine counts of making and one count of importing indecent images of children under 18 when his computer was searched in July 2010 by customs at London's Heathrow Airport when he returned to England from a vacation in Thailand. Steen's defense was he had no interest in children, and he thought the images were of young adults who were 19 or 20. After his conviction by a jury Steen was sentenced to serve two years of community service. Steen appealed. 'On June 12, 2014 the England and Wales Court of Appeal quashed George Steen's conviction as unsafe on the basis the juror's were improperly instructed to consider whether the jurors believed the photos brought back on his computer from Thailand were of young adults under 18 -- when the issue was whether Steen believed they were."
