Summary of Case:

"Howard Shaffer, Charles Stevens, and William Troop were codefendants. They were dubbed by the media as the Duval Three. All three were twice convicted of murder and sentenced to death based solely on the testimony of the victim's husband, who claimed to have witnessed his wife's murder. In 1930, after their third trial the judge ordered a judgment of acquittal for lack of evidence because the "eyewitness" finally admitted the attackers had been masked and he couldn't identify them. The three men were immediately released after three years of wrongful imprisonment on death row. The men were not awarded any compensation."
