Summary of Case:

"Laurie Stevens was wrongly convicted in April 2003 of murdering his business partner in June 2000. In 2001 a coroner refused to make findings supporting Stevens' prosecution. Prosecutors proceeded with Stevens' prosecution anyway, and in 2002 a jury was unable to reach a verdict after four days of deliberations. After a retrial in April 2003, Stevens was found guilty. He appealed and Queensland's Court of Appeals upheld his conviction in 2004. Australia's High Court then quashed Stevens' conviction in March 2006. After his third trial, Stevens was acquitted by a jury after three hours deliberation in July 2006. He had been wrongly imprisoned for almost three years."
