Summary of Case:

"Jonathan Stockhammer wrongly convicted of rape and intent to commit assault. The only evidence was the alleged victim's testimony. After Stockhammer's conviction he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with all but 95 days suspended pending good behavior. On May 1, 1991 the Supreme Judicial Court overturned his conviction based on evidentiary errors by the trial judge that deprived him of his right to due process and a fair trial.
