Summary of Case:	"Pervinder Singh Swarnn was wrongly convicted in March 2014 of committing an assault in Wolverhampton, England in January 2013. Swarnn was convicted based on his identification by the victim. Swarnn's alibi defense was that he was in Usk, Wales with his girlfriend on the day of the assault. After his conviction by a jury he was sentenced to 16 months in prison. While imprisoned Swarnn discovered new evidence in the form of text messages conclusively proving that he was with his girlfriend at the Rat Trap Inn in Usk, Wales on January 28, 2013, when the assault occurred 95 miles away in Wolverhampton, England. On April 21, 2015 the Criminal Court of Appeal for England and Wales quashed Pervinder Swarnn's conviction in April 2014 based on the new alibi evidence and he was released from prison."
