Summary of Case:	"Abdul Rajak Ibrahim Talati and Mehboob Valia Gocha were Indian nationals and codefendants wrongly convicted in 2009 of extorting US$550,000 from a Harare, Zimbabwe businessman, Mohamed Sabir Mohamed Iqbal Patel, after misrepresenting that they were working for Vice President Joice Mujuru and former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Dr Gideon Gono. Talati and Gocha were each sentenced to 10 years in prison, with the previso they could avoid prison by each paying restitution of $275,000 before January 1, 2013. In July 2014 Zimbabwe's High Court quashed the defendant's convictions on the basis the prosecution introduced insufficient evidence of their guilt. At the time of their convictions Talati was 33 and Gocha was 31."
