"Thomas Tay was wrongly convicted in 2007 based on his guilty plea to violations of Singapore's Securities and Futures Act. Tay was sentenced to pay a fine of $240,000. On October 4, 2013 Thomas Tay was acquitted by Singapore's High Court when the prosecution made a motion to quash his conviction "in the interests of justice" because it was based on the same facts and law as was the convictions of Peter Madhavan, Johnson Chong, and Ong Seow Yong who were acquitted by the High Court on July 27, 2012. The High Court ordered return of the $240,000 fine paid by Tay." |
