Summary of Case:	"Arthur Alan Thomas was wrongly convicted of the double murder of Harvey and Jeannette Crewe on June 17, 1970. Conviction was reversed and he was convicted again after a retrial in 1972. After evidence was discovered proving that police had deliberately planted bullets in a garden to use as evidence against him, he was granted a Royal Pardon and released in 1978. In 1980 he was paid NZL$1.087 million in compensation by the government of New Zealand for having spent 9 years in prison. Author David Yallop's book - "Beyond Reasonable Doubt" - was instrumental in focusing the attention on Thomas' case that led to his exoneration, and the book was turned into a 1980 movie of the same name."
