Summary of Case:	"Simona Tibu was wrongly convicted on April 16, 2015 of of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice after she was stopped for speeding near Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada on August 3, 2013. Tibu, a dentist in Camrose, was stopped for speeding while driving to Edmonton. The severe beating of the diminutive Tibu by the officer who stopped her was filmed by the dash cam in the police officer's vehicle. Tibu suffered deep cuts and bruises on her face and body, and the officer who beat her was put on desk duty shortly after the incident. In spite of the dash cam video showing Tibu was assaulted by the officer, Tibu was charged in January 2015 and prosecuted. After her conviction by a jury she appealed. On December 14, 2015 Tibu's convictions were overturned. The ruling became final in April 2016 when the Alberta Court of Appeal denied the Crown's petition to review the reversal of her convictions."
