Summary of Case:	"Ram Puneet Tiwary was wrongly convicted of murdering his two flat-mates in Sydney Australia on September 15, 2003. Tiwary was a native of India who was living in Singapore when he moved to Sydney, Australia to studying mechanical engineering at the University of New South Wales. His two flat-mates, Tay Chow Lyang, 26, and Tan Poh Chuan, 27, were fellow Singaporeans. Tiwary was 25 when he was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in May 2004. The prosecution alleged during his trial in 2006 that Tiwary killed his two roommates with a baseball bat. After his convictions by a jury Tiwary was sentenced to life in prison without parole. In 2008 the New South Wales Court of Appeals quashed his convictions and ordered his retrial. Tiwary was retried and convicted by a jury on December 17, 2009. He was sentenced to serve a maximum of 48 years in prison. Tiwary appealed. On July 26, 2012 the New South Wales Court of Appeals quashed Tiwary's convictions and ordered his acquittal. The court ruled that the prosecution circumstantial case was insufficient because it didn't prove Tiwary's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
